Nexafortis Foundation has been formally incorporated in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an Incorporated Trustee under Part F of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020. The milestone marks the start of our work to ensure communities across Africa help shape, and benefit from, the technologies transforming the global economy.
Headquartered in Lagos, the Foundation was established by a team with professional backgrounds across computing, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and IT project management. That technical grounding sits at the centre of how we design programmes: not technology bolted onto development work, but development work built around technology from the start.
What we will focus on
Our work is organised around four intersecting pillars, supported by a commitment to research and knowledge sharing. We will expand access to digital education and skills, build Africa's ethical AI and data ecosystem, deploy climate technology that strengthens community resilience, and create pathways to youth economic empowerment that turn skills into sustainable livelihoods.
These pillars are deliberately overlapping. A single programme, such as training young women in AI for climate-data analysis, can advance gender equality, youth empowerment, climate resilience, and digital inclusion at the same time.
What comes next
With incorporation complete, we are building our operational foundations, including banking and compliance, and beginning to engage funders and delivery partners. In our first phase we will pursue consortium and sub-grantee relationships with established organisations, a pragmatic route to larger institutional funding while we build a multi-year track record.
